Default Heads on supercharged 5.3?

I am going to be installing a supercharger and cam package and was going to be taking the heads off anyway, so I figure I might aswell upgrade the heads too. Looking for something very inexpensive since I am already overbudget...

Also if anyone knows of a good fuel pump, head bolts, and head gaskets to use as well..

About the best bang for the buck are PRC ported 5.3 heads with bigger valves. They come with good springs and choice of compression chambers. Texas Speed also has a good heads and cam installation gasket and bolt kit.

PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L CNC Ported Heads

Out of curiosity why are you taking the heads off for a supercharger and cam install?

Changing the springs. Was told I needed either a special compression tool to remove the springs, or the heads have to come completely off.

I have those heads with a Radix. I like the combo pretty good. There are several people making good power with stock heads though.

I'm thinking I will probably stick with the stock heads..wasn't planning on spending $1000+ on heads...

You dont have to take the heads off to change the springs. Just get the valve spring compressor tool.

+1 Look around for a Crane spring removal tool, don't know if they're still available.

It can be don with the heads installed.
