Default Headers installed, truck runs like sh*t! PLEASE HELP!

I bought some shorty headers to replace the stock manifolds. I had them installed at a local shop. One of the manifold bolts was rusted in half. The shop had to pull the head on the driver's side to remove the bolt. Got that done, head and new head gasket put on, and had new cats installed in place of the old ones. Here's the problem...

I had a WaitForMe pcm tune. Now, my truck won't go past 3K on the tach before it shifts. When I take off, it feels like I'm taking off in 2nd gear. Real slow, unresponsive, and sluggish. And when I put it in gear from park, the rpms go down to around 200 and it feels like it's going to die. That's only for a couple of seconds, and then it goes back into a normal idle of around 500 rpms. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Did my tune get reset? The truck was in the shop for 5 days, and the battery was disconnected for I don't know how long.

This is on an '00 5.3 Z-71.

Not to be rude but shorties are a waste. Might as well kepp your stock ones then. Only way to go is long tubes. I say you buy a set of long tubes and install them and then tell us if you still have problems.

Long tubes are definately better but my shorties are doing something

PS. I am also C.A.R.B. legal making 450hp so I can play and not have to pay.

BUT I cant imagine what the exhaust or even head on/off could cause what you describe. The pcm is tuned and it doesn't matter if it's disconnected.

NO. Did you even read my post? Are LTs supposed to magically cure my truck's shifting problems? Hell no. Please man, these last five days have been a constant headache with my truck in the shop, and when I finally get it back, it runs worse than before. The last thing I need is recommendations for headers when I just bought a set. Someone must have an idea of where the problem lies..

Do you have your stock ECM to try and see if it may have been something to do with all the engine work???

From what I read you have the same tune in that you did when you brought the truck in. Is this correct? If so your tune probably isnt causing this unless it got corrupted which is doubtful. You do need to get an updated tune for the headers though. If I were you just for reassurance I would check all the plugs, plug wires, MAF, TB, injectors,o2's, and any other connectors. Maybe the shop swapped your pcm out with another! Ok probably not. Just check all the basics first.

I'd take it back to the shop you had do the work, kinda funny that things were fine until they touched it. Some *** at the shop might have screwed something up and just tried to cover it up until you ran into an issue.
