Question Head question

Hey ive got a o4 silverado with a 4.8 in it and i was wondering if it would be worth it to put a set of slp heads and a slp cam in my truck. The heads and cam are for a ls1 car and i know they will fit since the ls1 guys put the 5.3 heads on their motors. The heads i want are fully built with a custom cam to match the heads so what im asking is if it would work and work well to have thoes heads on a 4.8?? I am going to go with nitrous not boost. Thanks for the help everyone

Yeah, it would make some difference in power. But for the price, a stock LS1 or 6L motor would give you better overall performance. Just a cam in a LS1 or 6L will make much more power than a heads / cam 4.8 will.

Also, the time and effort that it takes to swap heads and cam in your truck will be about equal to doing a complete motor swap.

NO, The chambers on those heads are probably too big. It will make a difference in power, but not for the better. Get a cam better matched for your truck. Alllen Futral @futral motorsports seems to be the only one who really understands that this is a truck and the bore on them. 4.8"s and the 5.3"s are smaller 3.78" compared to 3.90" ls1 and I think 4.00" for the 6.0.

man i am fixing to do a head swap in the near future. i asked around some and got some good answer. i think i settled on the absolute stg 2 heads. this is what he said.

have done a few sets for 5.3l's in trucks. I use a 2.0-1.57 valves for the smaller bore and get them to flow in the 290's which is good for the small bore size. I have seen a 30-40 hp gain on applications like yours. Let me know If I can help
Jay

sounds good to me.
