Default Having install trouble. Turbo #s wont look great.

I have a new turbo cam ready to go into the truck and now I can't find springs that are guaranteed to hold up to it's lift under boost.

The springs I would need are either backorderd form hell or wont be out till mid June So that leaves me with trying to keep my current cam in the truck for now and bleed off boost since it was designed to run hard N/A and on nitrous.

I am also upgrading the turbo to something bigger so I don't have the same problem as the TX truck with the real peaky dyno sheet from last week. Apearantly we have the same turbo and I am not taking chances so STS is hooking me up with a bigger unit.

So just giving those who are following and update. It's still in progress but these little snags are pushing it back a bit.

What springs are you trying to get? .591 lift isn't too big. Have you contacted Patriot about some of their spring kits? They get good reviews and are resonably priced for the package. That looks like a good turbo cam.

I'm not really sure of all the #s. I never got too much into springs even on my T/A. The only choices right now are the Comp 918s or something from Isky. But we don't feel confident in either set since they are rated at .600 but add in boost and you are getting real close. If a single spring fails I can have some seriously expensive problems

Watch the for sale forum ... they are always selling low milage high lift springs and cams and stuff. When I say low mileage I mean something like 1000-2000. Worse case you can get those to hold you over, then get some new ones when they are available.

BigTex is right on, go with the Patriot Golds. They swap out with the stock springs and retainers and are good for .600+ lift. Their kit will include new locks and seals + ti retainers. I researched them for weeks and all the information I found was good and they will last a long time. I've got a set of Patriot's heads coming for my 408 with them installed. Terry at Patriot was great to deal with.
