Don't show them the thread til you take the s10's money. Take that moeny and race the other truck so you aren't out anything.

Then show them this thread where everyone's calling :BS: on the s10.

 

i had a 98 S10 EC auto with a 4.3. That thing had torque but that was about it.. I never ran it a the track but my buddy in his stock 5.3 GMC walked me at ever light.

that was with Exhaust, 18/9.5 in the rear and K&N filter... It peg-leged me to death too. good luck

I would expect the 2000 5.3 reg cab to run somewhere in the 14.7 range or maybe faster, as my EC has been 14.9 and it is a bit heavier. As for the S10, my neighbor has a EC Extreme with the 4.3 and an automatic that has gone 15.90's, stock. They do run pretty good, but 97+mph in the quarter is out of the question, WAY OUT. I wouldn't expect a stock S10 to run 90anything as far as mph goes. My best run was a 14.98@91.33.

to put a s10 at 97 trap speed my 5.3 runs like 91..
i have raced more s10 than i can count and they see nothing but taillights...4.8 give me a much better run for my money......take his money and buy some mods.

 

I'll ask the kid if their local gas station has started selling that extremely high octane racing fuel. From what I can gather, he tells me his truck actually does cut off at 97-98 in the quarter, but he has never been to the track. Basically, they just don't know what a quarter mile even is. I just can't wait to meet up with him, beat him, and use the line xXxSilveradoxXx suggested. It will be all over his town that I have a 10 second truck. No one will want to mess with my 4.8L then

 

if an s-10 can beat my truck then i'll trade it for a HEMI... thppbbbtttt!!!!

 

My '00 Sonoma ran a 15.0 with the previous owner, he's a friend. We raced one night form a light, I was a fender ahead of him in 1st, then pulled a truck or more in second. This was befoe my cut-out, E-fans.

He doesn't have a Typhoon or Syclone does he? If so .. then you damn sure don't want any of him then. Ask him if you can look under it. If you see a tranfer case and a front diff and no 4wd contols in the front, you might should pass on him.

I don't think they were made in '97, but I'm not for sure. I think these were twin turbo charged or something crazy like that. They were quick to say the least. I remember stories of them testing them out on the loop in Shreveport (where they were made) and they would be on the side of the road checking their QA list and the next thing you saw was a streak trailed by white smoke from all 4 tires.

 

His sister showed me a pic of the truck and it just looks like a plain white s10 with the 4.3L. I have seen a few syclones run, and those things are no joke. They're still expensive as hell used, but I would love to have one for the ultimate sleeper. Just make the outside look like a base s10 and ring some people.
