Default guys with 97 s10 and 2000 5.3L

Ok, here's the deal, guys. Help me out a little. My girlfriends friend's brother challenged us C'land boys to some racing. Her brother has a stock 97 extended cab s10 and his friend has a 2000 single cab chevrolet with a 5.3, hypertech programmer, and a K&N filter. Her brother actually told me his s10 is fast, and his truck cuts off at 97 before the quarter mile mark. Can I please get a response from some of you guys so I can show her the veterans opinion on this time and truck. I was also wondering what times should I expect from the 2000? Please act quickly and honestly.

Prolly 14.8-14.9 from the nbs truck. Either the S10 is on steroids or someones lying.

I ran a nbs s10 at the track, ECSB with a 4.3 and a manual tranny. He was running 17's. High 17's at that.

I agree with Flyer on the 2000. As far as the S10, there is no freakin way that it, a STOCK 4.3, could beat a 2000 5.3.

I would have to guess 15.2-15.0 for your buddie's 2000 and for the s10... Please! Even the latest model, fastest configuration(say 03, reg cab, 4.3, manual w/good driver) S10 would not be trapping 97 or faster in the 1/4. That mph would be good for a high 13 at worst. Unless he is spraying a nice size shot on it, some one is blowing some smoke up your you know where.
I'll tell you what, get this guy to bring his 97+mph s10 to hattiesburg sunday and I'll race him. He should have no problem beating me since I only trap at 94-95.

Whoop the s-10 and get it on tape for us to see his face.

The guy might run a trap speed of 97, but there ain't no way in hell its stock! The stock ones around here run High-17s to Low-18s.

I will get the race on tape, but I have feeling that after I show his sister this post, I might not get a race out of him. I guess maybe their quarter mile is a bit off. In his exact words, I have beat 350s, 327s, 305s, 318s, and other 4.3L. I mean, wow, this must be the factory freak from hell. Like I said in the earlier response, newbie kids. I know his friends truck would probably walk me, but hey, maybe I need to throw in the same motor as his stock s10, so I could smoke both of them.Geez
