Default Gtech accuracy ??

I have been playing around with the new Gtech competition whatever meter. I’m curious to know what everyone thinks about their accuracy. As Parish8 said, then new one is much better than the old model. It is easier to use and seems pretty consistent. I have a long flat road and I run it in both directions.

I haven’t used it with the juice yet. Only changes to my truck since last time at track is a Yank 3000 and more timing. I expected the Yank to help out my times. But I was not expecting to see this much improvement. I ran a 15.57 @ 92.x on a 2.5x 60’ in November in full truck trim.

With Gtech times after Yank:
First time to get on it:
1st – 14.9x @ 94 on a 2.4x 60’ – No staging, just stomp the gas in auto 4wd
2nd- 14.7x @ 94 on a 2.2x 60’ – Staged it up to 1800 then let the hammer down.
3rd – 14.59 @ 95 on a 2.18 60’ – Staged it a little harder and hit it.

2 days later: (humid weather after 2 days of rain)
1st – 15.0 @ 94 on a 2.2x 60’.
2nd – 14.8 @ 95 on a 2.2x 60’

2 more days later: (cold just front passed through)
14.51 @ 96.x on a 2.13 60’

So with a better tune and converter, I seem to have shaved a full second off my ET, gained 4 mph, and cut my 60’ times down 4 tenths.

Now back to the Gtech – On the hotter humid day, my truck felt more sluggish, and the times showed it. On the crisp morning, the truck was running good, and the Gtech showed it. I’ll take it to the track next time and test it out.

Should I beleive the Gtech?

I think so. I read a write up on these in chevy high performance mag that they are accurate within a 10th or two. I need to get me one of those new ones. I never go to the track (I should) and it would be nice to see how the crew cab scoots.

can you mount it any other place? like the dash with velcro or 3M double sided tpae instead of using the suction cup? i'm sure you can remove it from that suction cup harness and plus it probably has multiple accelerators so it doesn't have to be level. let me know if this is true, because i am interested in getting one. i was looking to get a Race Technology one because it is wireless, and runs by batteries. but i think this one might be better. any one seen the g-tech comp cheaper than $250.

I think it has 4 accelerometers. I calibrate it everytime before I run it. I dont think it has to be perfectly level anymore. Its pretty slick.

you can mount it any way you want, it even comes with an extra base that can be screwed to your dash/floor if you want. my old gtech was never off more than .05 at the track, i would bet money when you goto the track the new gtech does better than that. the mph is off and they tell you why that is in the directions so just use that as a reference.

did you see diferent times going in diferent directions, any time i post on here is always in my slower direction(wind?/slight hill?) my all time best ET was a 12.6 but that was followed up by a 12.8 in the other direction so i tossed the fast time. it is a really cool tool/toy.

I had a budy run one at the track and it is pretty dame accurrate from what Ive heard. I wasn't there of course so there is the <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> factor I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I do try to run it both directions, but I've only had it for a week. Every time I run, its a little different. I haven't found the "magic" way to launch with the new converter. Plus, I gave my new converter a grace period before I started beating on it.
