If your flywheel breaks away from the motor, your starter cant turn the motor over. All it will do is spin the outer shell of the flywheel. Mine didnt make any noise. I steped on it a little and all of a sudden i fell foward and my rpms went to 6000. It just coasted to a stop and sat there like it was in neutral.

What did it sound like when that flywheel let loose?

I had something happen in my truck today that I;m not sure about. I was pulling out on a road and started to get on it. Before it made the 1-2 shift, it went PPPOOOOOOWWWW and gave a real hard jerk and quit pulling. The motor r's shot up real high when that happened. There was no fluid anywhere. It is definantly in the front of the tranny/right behind the motor.

I say it was the planetary gear! That is what it sounded like when mine went.

It was definantly something in the tranny. I went by there yesterday and they had pulled the pan off and saw what looke like a color of a bass rig, metallic red. It was for sure in the front of the transmission. I was thinking maybe an input shaft or something. I didn't have any gears. I did get it to try and start pulling in 4lo. It would try and pull about the same in D, 2, 1, and N, not not at all in P or R. Weird huh ...

It definantly wasn't the flywheel then, cause I was able to start the truck back up afterwards. I didn't even think of that, and apparently no one else did either, cause that was the first thing that the tranny guy had thought of before looking at it. I guess he was like me .. after putting 2 grand in my transmission, the b!tch shouldn't break parts like that.

I think I am going to get him to take that Stage2 shift kit out while it's in there too, so it isn't barking tires all the damn time when I give it more than half throttle.l I would bet that had something to do with it too.

Hey 408 Stepside, you ran 16lbs through the Whipple? Is this what you saw on a boost gauge? Did you run alcohol injection and 100 octane? On your engine, was that 16lbs being run with the stock crank?
Thanks man. Ryan

Actually i saw about 17/18 on the boost guage. The bottom ends on our trucks are very strong. I knew of a company that turned a stock crank 10000 rpm with out one problem. And I am pritty sure that they had it pumped up pritty good. Thats with different rods and such though.

I didnt run any alochol injection or an intercooler. I was able to run 20 deg. of timing through it also. Keep in mind that it was 8:1 also though. I was impressed what compression does for a blower.
