Got my Airaid today

well i went ahead and got the intake instead of the K&N... I just didnt see how it would flow any bettery than the stock intake tube. Anyway a few overall opinions.
First of all is was pretty good for the price.. 149-159 compared to K&N's 270ish.
Install took me about 12-15mins, just pop off the stock air box, switch the MAF and other little sensor and your in business.. just like putting a lid on a LS1
looks: it really looks much better than that stock POS box!!
Performance: well i went out and i really couldnt notice to much, i think it pulls harder and spins a wheel much easier but eveb if it gave 10-15hp im sure thats not to noticeable..
overall, nice bang for the buck..
also this went on a 98 5.7 Z71, so it doesnt give the gains the 99+ ones see..
now i need some headers..
also does anyone have that poweraid throttle body spacer?? worth the cash?

I don't have a TB spacer, but I will be getting one if it fits with my DJ Motorsports intake runner. I know this one guy that has one on his truck, and when he gets on the gas, it sounds awesome, like it has a supercharger on it or something.

It looks to me like the biggest restriction is the pipe between the filter and the TB, and the Airaid does nothing about that. Thats why I went with the K&N.

i just dont see how thats restricting air?? its gonna be no smaller than the K&N tube..
but if it is, i can always rig up some pvc pipe to fix that easy

anway the 98's have the intake right above the passanger fender, then its a straight shot right to the throttle body..no bends or etc... im sure the whole intake helps alot on the 99's+, and if that were the case on mine i would have the K&N

That is the reason I was told by them why they didn't offer it. Now as far as the "*******" LOL that is a silencer. The best way to inprove your flow to the TB is to not only have a non restrictive tube, but as important, a free flowing one. any hard turns, flex tubes, and multiple bends, only increase the turbulance in the supplied air. I can tell you that when all these intakes hit the market, the AirRaid for the 99+ truck was over $300. Now because they don't offer a tube, the price is way down. Another reason AirRaid shows less gain, is because thier filters are thicker than the K&N. BTW, I still have both. I use the AirRaid filter for daily driving, and the K&N for playtime. The K&N tube stays there.
