Default Minor Problems

Hey Guys!
I have a 2002 Silverado with 5.3 Engine. I have removed the cats. Do any of you guys notice your truck running richer? Does yours produce a few puffs of flood smoke dark blue and black in color when you start them up and especially when you have had yours idling for a while say 5mins then shut if off and restart it. Have any of you guys seen this. I was just wondering because I don't know if this is normal? The smoke smells like fuel I sure hope it is and not using oil. I can't tell than I am loosing oil though according to my dip stick!

Comments Please.
Thanks Lee Stroud in West Virginia!!!!!

You should take a walk on the wild side and get some O2 SIMS, that'll cure that problem.

I dont know why your running rich, maybe its a bad o2 simm?? Did you do anything else to the motor, Ie tweaked the ecu, intake, n20, s/c, etc etc??????? has your oil level dropped??? how many miles on the motor? Do you beat the everloving sh?t out of it?? is the blue smoke blow by?? maybe bad rings did you scew with the MAF, or do you have an aftermarket MAF???Did you try putting the cat back on and then running it, does it still happen? It it still warrantied?

It has 4176 Miles on it. Nothing has been done other than removing the cats and Installing the O2 Simms. I do have a dual exhaust using a 40 Series Flowmaster single in dual out.

Secondary (sensor 2) O2s have no other function outside of emmissions. They are there to see if the cats are working. They will not effect A/F. O2 simms will just keep the light from triggering.
