This is just my opinion and I don't know what your performance/looks ratio is, but I think you'd get better performance if you stick with a single exhaust. Either that or stick to 2.25" or 2.5" if you decide to stay with duals. It doesn't sound like you're gonna be pushing enough power to need true dual. Again, just my opinion and good luck with your 'new' truck. Sounds like you're really gonna enjoy it.

Ahh, you're running the supermaxx exhaust system. How do you like it? I'm not really going for looks, just the power. I always thought duals were better. Single exit exhaust get's better performance? Why, because there's more backpressure? Like I said, I'm new to these motors and am trying to learn. I'm open to any advice that will help me achieve the optimal output of the mods I'll be doing.

for your power levels, a 3 inch single in/dual out muffler will suit your needs. yes, you do need the back pressure. going to true duals will cost you low end power.

So after the headers run 3in cats in stock location into the 3 in. Y pipe, then 3 in. all the way back to the muffler? HMMMM...The sound of the cam will probably sound better also through one pipe huh?

The only longtubes i know of that will pass in cali or the dynatech system.I ahve them and love em but they are pricey.
If ya gotta go shorties then i'd save my money just nothing there to gain unless ya go longtubes really.
But you can do the other normal stuff for a nice price like a CAI,e-fans,catback do the tb bypass. If ya want an underdrive pulley but you don't have to on that one.
If run the came like said earlier you need some upgraded springs the 918's from comp work great.Hardened pushrods.
If you go with the thunder cam i'd just get a package deal from em.
On the LSA your gonna want a 112 over a 114 for sure.
The 112 will lower the powerband of the cam and in that truck as heavy as it is you want that for sure.
I'd toss a Yank TT3000 in the truck to maintain stock driving charactoristics...i can't spell.
I have the TR220 on a 112LSA and it's doin very well for me.

Shorty headers really don't do that much?!? I don't want to spend the money on the dynatech system. There's also the AEM system that is similar for like 900-1000, but that's still a lot of cashola for some headers. Maybe I'll hold out on the headers until some company comes out with some smog legal long tubes...lol...tb bypass? what's that? Sorry for the newb question. I plan on getting the 918 valve springs also. I'll have to check out their package deal. I really want a 112 over a 114, but after searching and reading threads I heard it's harder to tune then a 114. Especially with a mail tune like nelsons. Do you have a sound clip of your TR220/112LSA?

Yes i do,http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...6600337156.htm
You really are gonna want to go with a 112 LSA in a truck as heavy as yours.Plus it's the 5.3 so your gonna want the power to come on sooner.
I have a buddy with a TR224 on a 112LSA tuned by Nelson mailorder and it runs alot smoother than mine does and he got it right in a single chance. He tune it for sure.
The shorties really don't do much of anything and sometimes don't do anything.
When comparing shorties to the stock manifold the manifolds do a really good job already.
The TB Bypass is simple to do and very very cheap. If you look under your hood at your throttle body just under the inlet for the tube that runs to it.
It might be easier if you remove that part from the airbox/throttle body to see it better.
But once you look there are two lines that run to the throttle body. Those lines have coolent from the radiator running through them and when the engine warms up it passes that hot fluid through your TB.Thats bad and hurts performance.
All you gotta do is disconnect each line from the TB while the engine is coolcause you will have some coolent come out of it.Get a fitting from a hardware/parts store for the hoses and simply connect the two lines.Bam your done it's that easy. Some put little caps on the ends where the lines did connect to the TB but it's not a must.

Your truck sounds good man! A 5.3 should sound pretty similar huh? What kind of exhaust are you running? The idle sounded pretty smooth. I bet I will regret it if I go with the 114. So why does that fluid go through the TB anyways? Is there any purpose to it? I'll look at those lines tomorrow. Thanks
