As far as the cam goes a good all round NA cam that sounds mostly stock is the 212/218 comp cam on a 114 lobe. Or your friend could buy the TR220 on a 112 and make 340 rwhp and 338 rwtq like I am. I spent almost 1200 on the cam kit, crane dual spring compressor, oil and fluids, pen magnets Ls6 oil pump and JWIS timing chain. But you dont need the oil pump or JWIS chain thats not including the price of the install. BTW make sure if your friend does buy a cam make sure he takes it to a place thats done LS1 motors before, I have had to tell several people that they cant get access to the lifters by pulling off the intake the heads have to come off, but then they dont know about the pen magnet trick.

stall and tune headers always help but you wont be able to tell a difference from them really a stall and tune you will run his **** down or you could always spray the **** out of it

I believe in order to give the best advise we should know what the truck is,RCSB,XC,4x4,2x4,oversize tires, gears. From there it would be nice to know a budget also if he is able to do all or some of his own work. Then to know if it's used to towing or racing or just a driver or if he has to have it smogged.

okay, no smog, its a DD, but he'll sacrifice that some for speed.. its a 2wd smallest lightest version available I believe.. 20inch rims on it but with pretty good rubber, not much spin off the line..
