Default good mods for a mostly stock 5.3 2000silverado

well my friend wants more from the truck after sadly losing to a idk hemi of some sort?

bumblebee I think ? it was big yellow and ugly..

lost by about 2 cars from 0-80

he has a K&N FIPK and a true dual exhaust system..

he wants more though.. he bought a hypertech tuner off of ebay for 200 bucks.. would that give him much improvement? I'm clueless with these cars?

I told him might want to try and step up with a bigger stall? but I don't have the first idea where to look for one and and how much they cost..

also told him headers and maybe a cam swap?

where could I get info on all this and do you think he could make 300rwhp with all of those mods mentioned?

K&N FIPK
true duals
some kind of longtube headers
Hypertech programmer
cam and rocker swap
upgraded stall..

Well a stall would be a good start, from what everyone has told me and experienced it will knock about .4 of a 1/4 mile. But they are pretty expensive. I am wanting to get one to, but I think for the price and what they give you in return is great, especially if you are going to put a cam in it. YankTT 3000 is pretty good also a Vigilance by performance industries are bad *** as verters. I would go with one of them. The hyertech will help but a custom tune is better.

I'd say besides the stall, a custom tuned PCM would be the easiest to do and one of the best bang for your buck mod. It made a night and day difference on mine.

Oh yeah you make a good point!! I guess it would be a little harder than the other to install. I was just thinking speed But I would do a custom tune.

The way I understood his friends truck is pretty much stock. It is his truck that had the stall.

get the trailblazer torque converter. It is cheap and will raise the stall speed to about 2300 RPM. That and a PCM tune from allen or texas speed and performance will beat that dodge's ***. the total cost will be < $500

Get the TCI stall for 450 and a custom tune for 400 and that would be enough. I just installed longtubes on my truck but its the Dynatech system and it was almost 1300 dollars for them, but the Thorley Tri Y headers are a good deal. To reach 300 rwhp your friend is gonna need a cam, long tubes and custom tune. Look at the sig 255 rwhp with the ASP pulley, Borla exhaust, KN FPIK, and Superchips tune.
