Default Good cam for 5.3 w/o stall

Hey, I've been looking for a cam for my daily driver, I want to avoid running a stall with some mild to moderate gains throughout the rpm range. I've done some research and found a ls6 cam, a scoggin dickey cam with specs similar to a ls6 Scoggin Dickey Parts Center SD0067 - Z+221 SDPC LSX Camshaft 221/226 .565/.560 114 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211, and a comp 54-424-11 which specs at 212/218 @.050 558/563 115lsa. I love the sound of the comp but I'm pretty sure I'd need a stall.

Watch your overlap unless you are registered in the valley. Or option B until Anchorage axes the pesky IM testing they've been talking about for so long.

I had a 215/215 111 with no converter and it was decent, but could still tell it definitely would be improved upon with a 3k converter. So imo i definitely wouldnt go bigger than what i had or the one bigdaddy listed..

I have a 208/212 .554/.558 with a 115lsa. Great gains after 2800-3k. Kind of a dog in the bottom end but that depends on your gear ratio and weight of the truck and I have to 1.75 rockers which gives me more lift. That cam with 4.10 gears would be pretty killer. Without the rockers might be good for your application. I've beat plent of 350z's, G35's, and pretty much any type of Dodge RT's with my mods. Prior to the blower, trans and stall of course. Now I'm looking for bigger fish to fry. I'm no cam expert but don't always look at the size of lift thinking it makes all the difference. Duration plays a key roll as well. You also might want to think of the long run. Do you ever plan on running a stall? If so its easier to swap a stall then it is to swap and cam IMO. Either way good luck with your search.

Yeah, I just moved back up here. I'm going to get my truck IM'd before I do all of this. Hopefully it'll be gone by the time I'm due for another.

I'm running 3.73s I think. It's just my daily driver so I don't need to go building my tranny. It'd be cool to beat those cars you mentioned though.

I'm running the VRX-3 while that is on the conservative side still I don't think you'll want that. 226/228 .584/.588 114 with 4* advance... it's a nice under the curve monster. Everything I need with a heavy SUV.

Just please.... do not but one based purely off of how it sounds. You want that chop or lope just get a tighter LSA like a 112.

Keep us posted as to which one you go with!

I've been doing some more research and took your guys recommendations in cosideration. I like the comp 265 212/218 and the scoggin dickey ht1 214/218. Which would be more beneficial to my truck after I got headers, shift kit and a tune? I still really would like to avoid getting a stall and retain a little bit of my low end.
