Question GMPP 17801346 cold air intake filter could be clean with mild soap ?

Guys sorry for my ignorance but, I just bought this intake and the filter is dirty , doing some research came across this from Chevrolet Performance Parts. My question to you guys does this apply to this particular filter or should I just order a new filter ? , don't want to F up my MAF !

thanks guys !

15.)What is the best way to clean my Chevrolet Performance Dryflow air filter?
Dryflow air filters can be cleaned by removing the air filter from the vehicle and gently swishing it in a bucket filled with a diluted solution of water and mild dish soap. Measure the length of the filter element and fill the bucket with the soap and water solution to match the filter element length. For example, if the filter is 9" long, then fill the bucket 9" with the solution. This is important because solution with contaminant can enter the filter opening and be deposited on the inside of the filter. Rotate the filter element back and forth to agitate the dirt off the filter. The filter should then be rinsed with clean water. This process may need to be repeated two to three times. Shake the filter to remove as much water as possible. Before reinstalling the filter, make sure the element is dry or only very slightly damp. Excess water on the element may cause damage to the MAF sensor.

I have always just bought new ones. They didn't mention anything in the instructions about cleaning, so I assumed it was a serviceable part. Being in West Texas, I might try to wash and see how it does.

The biggest thing is to make sure it has completely dried before reinstalling it and using it.

If the filter element is still wet, the water could get on the MAF and damage it.

If you dont have time just buy a second one and install it. clean the old one and let it dry. Then put it up on the shelf, when the other one gets dirty, just swap it out and repeat the process.

Thank you guys for your response ! I just cleaned mine per instructions , lots of dirt came out of it , I put a small fan over night and made sure it was completely dry before installing. Worked real good.
