Crazy... wtf. I know it's not a good thing. But that makes me feel better... helping me confirm it's a lifter.

AMSoil is good stuff from what I hear. I've never used it because it's not available at my local o reily, autozone, or wally world. it's probably too expensive for my cheap *** too LOL. wally world sells 5 qts of mobil 1 synthetic for $25.

i ran royal purple through a motor and had major oil consumption issues. roughly 1 quart every 1,000 miles which is insane. switched back to good ol' mobil 1 synthetic and the problem went away.

my current 210,000 mile lq4 gets oil changes every 10,000 miles whether it needs it or not. it's clean as they come and only drinks about 1/2 quart every 10,000 miles. totally acceptable. I don't do oil analysis, just my experience. royal purple isn't worth squat in my book. maybe a decent assembly lube at best.

if you go to amsoil site you pay like a $20 "fee" to get discount prices,25% off. you have to pay the fee every year. My oil ended up $6.30 a quart for 10w40 and high efficiency filter for $10

how much oil per year would you need to buy to make the "fee" worth it?

I've done this dozens of times over many used vehicles. It works excellent and it doesn't clog up the pan like a lot of motor flush treatments do.

I think for $20 if you did 2-3 vehicles even one change a year its worth it for the quality.
