Question Fuel gauge problem

I NEED HELP! 2000 gmc 5.3 2wd auto I also have a popping in the intake and exhaust at 4500 rpm and up in 1st and second and its not consistant. some days it does it alot and some times not at all. the fuel gauge will go to empty at a stop and then back to where it was.I can open the door and it will happen.I took the truck to my dealer and a tech drove it about 30 minutes with his scanner and said its normal,it does show a misire ocassionally but he said nothing to worry about !!!!!The tranny shifts really hard and I know tourqe management has some part in this, but it was doing this before I had the tranny built. No programmer installed and Im running factory plugs

It is a dead spot in the fuel gauge sending unit, it will cost about 400-500 if it's not under warranty. If, however, you complained about this before the warranty was up they should fix it.

Thanks for the help guys.I think my popping could be fuelpressure or a fuel pick up problem. Lately at 1/4 tank tank or less under acceleration its leaning out....almost to the point it looses all power
