Default Fuel Filter on a 2001 5.3 Suburban Where is it?

A friend of mine who needs to change his filter on his 2001 Suburban 5.3. I don't know Subs and he is not mechanicaly inclined but I told him I would help him out. So where is it and how do you change it. Of course he doesn't have the manuals for the car either. Do I need any special tools for the fuel lines?

You're supposed to have a special too to undo the fuel filter fittings but you dont really need it.

If its anything like every other NBS truck it should be inside the frame rail underneath either the drivers or driver side rear door.

It's on the inside of the frame rail under the drivers feet. It's a little harder to get to because of the torsen bars.NAPA has the fuel line disconnect tool I did the one on my Tahoe without it.

BTW, make sure you wrap a rag around it when you pop the fittings, the system holds pressure and gas in the eyes isn't pleasant.

Thanks guys! Used a 16mm Flarenut Wrench worked like a charm. Took the pressure off the system using the Schrader Valve on the fuel rail. Still a lot of fuel in the line.
