flat side on the y pipe

Default flat side on the y pipe

Going to fab a new y pipe and can't find any info on the flat spot on the y pipe. Does anyone know about this? IF i make it a true dual will the added length coming from the driver side, will it be a problem? thanks for any help

I think the flat spot is just for more ground clearance

I agree that's all it's there for fabbing up true duals should not be a problem.

Yea, not all years have the flat spot BTW, my 99 doesn't have it (or maybe it's the cab configuration that makes the difference?)
