Default Finally installed a catch can

I put my catch can on yesterday, haven't tested it but I hope it works right. I asked ten different people how to hook it up and got ten different answers so im working on trial and error right now! Its a cheap can i picked up from a local car show swap meet. If it doesn't work ill grab one from a sponsor later.....

My understanding is that it goes: valve cover => PCV valve => catch can => (check valve) => intake between the turbo and the air filter, NOT after, and cap the original PCV hookup behind the throttle body

If you have it hooked up behind the TB, then you need to put a check valve in that so you aren't boosting the valve cover. McMaster Carr check valve (P/N# 7775k52) is a popular one and won't break the bank.

I have also heard of doing both by running a T fitting and having one end go to in between the turbo and air filter, and one go to the stock location with a check valve. That way you always have enough vacuum even at idle because the turbo line won't pull enough at idle.

Borrowed from John_D. of LS1Tech. The check valve on the breather is a great idea because it will reduce the oil smell in the cabin, I would imagine.

Is it a hollow can, or do the vapors go through some type of media?

it has some sort of filter but not replaceable, so idk if its a good can or not but ill see if it works at all!

So how exactly did you end up routing your lines? Do you have a check valve somewhere to prevent from boosting your crankcase?

my set up is as follows for now:
Pass side is vented to a open filter
Driver side rear valve cover> to can> to top of intake
using a port on the intake as well for boost ref for wastegate.

I havent driven it but it worked before, just put a catch between pcv and intake manifold, by replacing the stock hose

You need a check valve in between the intake and can, because when you are in boost, some of that boost bleeds off back into your valve cover.

yep there is a part number here for a ford pcv that supposed to work, but since it has been running like this for a year with no noticeable problems i was going to see if it infact got oil in the can first!

I learned changing too many things at once could cause problems that are hard to find!
