Finally got my Headers!!!!!
#23
I think its ok if you elongate the holes a little. I had to do it a little on my friends f-body. How much off are we talking here? 1/8th of an inch or less? Whatever you do, don't force the bolts into the heads, or you'll be sorry.

Anybody think I should get on the phone and just start going off on people?? I mean come on, 6 months and the headers need to be modified to fit and I noticed some spots where there is no coating. I dont know maybe it's just my bad luck, not one single thing has gone right since I started on this truck. Maybe I ought to let someone else work on my truck for me, any volunteers??

No coating on some spots? That's terrible! To me that's un-acceptable. Don't bitch at Summit though, they didn't make them. I was thinking about getting some of those, but now I'm sceptical. Is there anyway for you to borrow a dig. cam or even a cell phone cam, and so we can see what exactly the coating looks like.
As far as them not fitting the bolt holes, that just goes with the territory. My car has been around for 36 years, and there are still very repudable header companies making headers that need to "modified" to fit. At least you don't have to dimple any tubes.

Yeah, I read all the paperwork that came with them, if the truck wasnt less than a week away from being my only vehicle, I would definitely just send them back. I can only ride in my car till the end of this week and then the insurance runs out. I'm thinking about modifying the holes to fit, install them and get my exhaust work done and then demand someone @ summit to get Thorley to ship me out a new set and when they come in just swap them out and ship the crappy ones back to 'em. I already e-mailed summit last night about the problem, so when I get home (I'm @ school) I'll see what they said but I doubt they answered yet.

The reason I went with the Thorleys was the cost $550 vs. $800. I just got a response from someone @ summit and they want me to return them in exchange for som other brand hooker, headman or whatever. That aint happenin.

That's BS man, the hedman's are shorties. I think the hooker's are too. Its says in their catalog that the coated thorley's will ship on 2/20! DAMN! The chrome ones will ship tomorrow though. Either way, I think you still need to talk to thorley about their quality control!!!
