If you're looking at FLT for performance transmissions, you're going to get A+ customer service. Chuck & Vince are usually easy to get a hold of, and the customer is top priority (from my personal experience). I won't get into debate over 4L6xE vs 4L80E preferences. I would not settle with just the $1850 unit. Go the next level up. If you're looking to swap in a 6.0L, and maybe adding n2o later, you'll want to consider FLT's L5. Just with the weight of your truck, and what it sounds like you're looking to get out of your truck, FLT will recommend at least the L4 trans. But, it's all up to you.

I've heard great raves about Wheatley. Don't have any first-hand experience with Charlie (yet).

With 4.10s & 28" tall wheel/tire combo (& 4L60E), my rpms are ~2300 rpms @ 70mph. I think a stock truck's rpms @ the same speed is ~1900.
