Default factory trans cooler & yank 3000

Would the stock trans oil cooler offer enough cooling for Yank 3000 Torque Converter. The current trans temps are below 200 but do get close at times. I don't have any idea how much more heat the TC generates.

Adding an additional cooler into the loop would probably be good insurance unless someone knows its not necessary.

seems like yank says you dont need it for that stall but i would get one, they are only $40 or so and a tranny is $2000. i wasn't monitoring my temps but when i was towing in the mountains with my truck there were long periods of time the converter wasn't locked, it had to be geting hot. i figured out it was smoother and less work for the truck to drop it into 3rd and since it could hold it's speed the converter never unlocked.

With the big 278mm Truck Thruster 3000, I have not needed a tranny cooler according to Autotap. Apparently, the Tahoe radiators are pretty efficient.

Thanks guys,

I figured the stock cooler would/should handle and I will put another aux one in the loop eventually, but I may just install the TC first and have some fun now.

I'll worry about the extra cooler install and plumbing after. If the temp skyrockets, we are talking about Hawaii, it will be sooner than later.

Yes, I have the factory cooler mounted in front of the radiator.

My temps with my factory aux cooler and yank 3200 in my 01 were always in the 160* range, never close to 200*. In my 02, before I put the B&M cooler the temps were always close to 200* with the factory converter. Now they are at about 170* with the yank 3200.
