Actually, I don't think it affected the outside noise level much at all. It sounds the same inside the cab as far as the muffler tone but it doesn't seem to reach the level where it resonates. The resonation is still there but it's DRAMATICALLY reduced, my ears don't buzz like they use to when driving around and the truck is under a very light load. The muffler has never been to loud, it just seem to create a resonation at a certain frequency that made my ears buzz. I think the Bullet just supresses the resonation some more. Now, this muffler is only 4" in diameter, I don't know how long the packing will last. It's a racing muffler and may not be designed to run all the time on a street car application. If the resonation starts to come back, I done, I'll go back to stock.

quote:
with 2 mufflers on there, wouldent it neglect the better flow in the first place? do you have tips on the end of the pipes?

I really don't think so, and if it does add a little back pressure, it's OK. From what I've read about the new Vortec engines is, they like some back pressure. A lot of posters report a loss of low end when they install an aftermarket exhaust system. The Bullet muffler by Dynomax I added is a race muffler, it's only 16.5" long with a perforated 3" core. I don't think it restricts exhaust flow that much but it did help with the resonation problem.

I was looking through the Summit Racing catalog and found an Ultra Flo Bullet racing muffler made by Dynomax. I can get one that has a 3" inlet & outlet and is only 16 1/2" long. I was thinking of having one installed in front of the muffler to see if it would take some of the resonation away. The 70 Series Flowmaster I have isn't a loud muffler outside but it does create THE dreaded resonation at certain rpm's some of us talk about. I know Flowmaster's cat-back kit comes with a resonator that is installed before the muffler, the kit uses a 70 Series also. I saw a Truck's episode that installed the kit I'm talking about.

Well, I had the Bullet muffler installed and the interior resonation is 90% gone, finally! I had it installed in the only straight section of pipe in the stock exhuast pipe on my ext. cab truck. It's about half way btween the "Y" pipe and the muffler. All I hear now is the exhaust note but it doesn't get to the level that it starts to drone and resonate at 1600-2100 rpm's. I highly recommend this for any one who doesn't like the interior resonation from the performance muffler. Of course, this worked on my truck, yours my be different.

just this weekend i welded in a Hpipe cross over, my welding sucks, i put it about 1' in front of the mufflers. It is alot quieter and has a better tone, it still has some resonance but i don't think it is at an rpm that will bother me. i know it is quieter because i can hear the blower again and when i pull in the garage i can hear the injectors taping. i also like the tone much better, not so cackley.
i am prety happy with this no cost mod.
