I dont know what went wrong, engine was idling, started running very rough...then
it made this horrible noise and quit.It wouldnt spin over.I managed to grab the crank pulley and move it slowly, I heard somthing go clunk like it fell. I'm so screwed...did not need this to happen.I suppose I would like to find a 6.0, but this is my only ride,so no time to be picky.
So...any engines for sale out there???

Thanks, I checked Ebay, nothing there right now that I trust.
I'm kicking around the idea of building the 4.8 and going with forged internals, but that may be to expensive versus finding a good low mileage 5.3 or 6.0.
Let me know if you see anything that looks promising.

i'll start calling the yards around here on tuesday, as for most i am sure will be closed till then. a few months ago, i had my hands on a decent low mileage 5.3 in a wrecked sierra, i should have bought the thing when i had the chance. i guess you never know tho.

I know its expensive, but my local chevy dealer sells 6.0 H.O. (345hp) engines brand new for $3500. I know its alot of money, just trying to give you some info. Good luck, sorry to hear about your truck.

BigKID has an 00 with his egr removed. He said edit got rid of the code. I am not sure if a 02 computer will run a 00 engine or not. If it did then you could cross your existing manifolds/headers over along with the intake and go from there.

To get rid of the EGR on the engine .. you could use your intake manifold and your headers/manifold. That should take care of any problems about the EGR.
They did away with the EGR for 02 and later. The PCM can still run it if it's turned on though.

This next couple of days will drive me crazy.
I just noticed all the oil running out from under my truck, I looked under it with a flash light and the oil pan has a huge crack in it

Any idea what the regular 6.0 sells for new??

i don't know what one sells for new, i can call on tuesday at the dealeships down here but, there was a guy on here claiming to sell 6.0's from his dealership for a low price. if the oil pan has a huge crack in it, then it sounds like the crank broke...right?
