If i can get my hands on a new 6.0 for a good price, I'll go that route.
I dont know what broke, but I wasnt even driving,engine was just idling then bam!!!I guess its good it happened at the house instead of out on the road somewhere.

 

For around 2 grand, you could build a semi froged internal iron shortblock 5.3/5.7 out of your stock motor. Just get an LS1, 5.3 or 2001+6.0 crank and LS1 rods, forged pistons. Bore it if you want a 5.7.

yea, well, your right, at least it happened at your house. what about warranty, 02, is your warranty out already. I know i know, ms, no warranty last long in this state cause everything is so damn far away. i would go 6.0 as well if i were you.

 

Well, the truck is still under warranty,but with all the mods on it, I doubt they would touch it.I do have a connection through a chevy dealer that I will check into on tuesday.

Ok...this is what i'm thinking. I'm going to see what kind of deal I can get on a new 6.0 liter. If the price is right,that may be my best and easiest option.
Gonna start pulling parts off tommorow to get a jump on things when I do get an engine...whipple,unbolt headers and such.
Trying to keep my head up here. I keep telling myself,in the end it will be so much better...This is what my setup will be if I can get a 6.0
1. 6.0 engine
2. Whipple charger
3. 43 pound/hr injectors(new,still in box)
4. SMC enterpirses alky injection kit
5. Gibson shorty headers(i know they suck,but allready have em)
6. True dual exhaust with x-pipe and magnaflows
7. K&N FIPK
8. 160 t-stat
9. LT1 fans
10. Yank TT 3000
11. Eaton posi and 4.10 gears
12. Predator programmer
I have everything but the 6.0 liter. I'm thinking if I can do the swap it will make for a pretty quick ride.
Now, if only my sanity(and money) can hold out long enough to do this.

 

seriously take all the parts you can off and get the bitch warantied. i mean they can not tell you something like electric fans made this happen. but i would try to get a new motor free first. if that workd then cool you can still get a 6.0 but you will still have a brand new 4.8 as a spare.

 

Exactly what I was thinking (minus the 6.0L part). Take all that stuff off your engine (I know it's a pain but do it anyway) and get that thing fixed/replaced by the dealer.
