Default Egt Boost Question

You guys that are running boosted motors what kind of exhaust temps are you seeing just crusing down the freeway say at 70mph? Where on your exhaust do you have your probe located? If it matters what kind of power adder, turbo, radix, whipple, etc?

if you go to autometers website, and open the install pdf file for the pyrometer gauge it will tell you where to mount it

I'm just wondering what temps everyone else is seeing. I already installed mine on the down pipe about 8" from the turbo.

Out of curiousity what readings are you getting? Some of the Dodge FI guys are seeing temps around 1400 or higher when cruising with a load ( hill or extended boost conditions ). Seems kinda high for a gas drinker and we are wondering how long the cats will live.
BTW "normal" cruise EGT's are between 800-1200.

I'm seeing 1000-1100 cruising at 70-75mph. I haven't tried pulling anything yet. My afr on the wb looks good so I'm assuminig this is normal.

I see close to that Old Bull. My pyro probe is about 3 - 4" downstream of the exh. manifold (in front of the first o2 bung).

I believe this is the correct location turbocharged or otherwise, although autometer does address this in the instructions.

I see 1000-1100 deg. cruising on the highway. 12-1400 Deg under boost and/or while towing. I had my guages installed before installing the blower (9 PSI ProCharger) and even N/A I was seeing the same EGT's. My EGT sender is installed on the passenger side manifold.

Default EGT's

My pyro is mounted about 1.5 inches from the head in the exhaust manifold on #7. This is where it will be the hottest, according to autometer. I see 1250 - 1300 while cruising and as much as 1475 under heavy towing or heavy boost.
