I got a mustang gt fan and cut off the brackets to mount inside the stock fan shroud for the sleeper factor. Also, I hard wired the fan up to a switch on the dash.

I just installed the Flex-a-lite 292 dual fan kit on my 2004 Silverado. When I initially installed the kit the water temp didn't change (205 F) and the fans didn't come ON until the engine got up to operating temp. I then installed a 160 F thermostat and the water temp dropped to 185 F, but the fans wouldn't come ON so the water temp gradually crept back up to 205 F at which point the fans would cycle ON and OFF. The LS1 cools so well that I can idle this engine with no fan and it takes quite a long time for the engine to reach operating temp. I checked the resistance of the Flex-a-lite thermistor in a pot of water using a Digital Thermometer and a DVM. It's 750 ohms at 212 F/100 C. I wanted my fans to come on at 185 F which was 1.1 K ohms so I had to FOOL the VSC into thinking the thermistor was seeing 205 F when it is actually 185 F. I used the parallel resistance formula: Reciprocal of the sum of the reciprocals and came up with 1 K ohms. I put a 1 K ohms resistor in parallel with the thermistor across pins 10 and 11 of the VSC and now my fans come on at 185 F at the 60% rate. It the water temp goes up any the fans gradually ramp up to 100%. They're working just like I want with my little resistor mod. 20 cents at a local electronics store.

Awesome Ed! I actually JUST replied to your PM about this... Sorry it took so long, I had to stew on it a bit to try to help figure out what was going on.

I was off... I was thinking a 2K ohm resistor was what you needed...
