Dynoed My '03 5.3L
#1
My only mod's are a K&N intake and Gibson Catback.....All runs were in 2nd gear
Pull #1: 244.9rwhp & 260.2rwtq
Pull #2: 244.9rwhp & 261.5rwtq
Pull's 1&2 were right off the street and no cool down between runs
Pull #3: 250.7rwhp & 270.5rwtq
Pull #4: 254.8rwhp &274.7rwtq
Pull's 3&4 had 5 minute cool down periods
All in All I think that's pretty good for a truck with 2 mods and automatic....Considering my 2000 Mustang did 255rwhp and 300rwtq with o/r x-pipe, catback, intake, 70mm t-body, intake spacer, and u/d pulleys.

Yeah, these trucks are pretty impressive. Also consider what gear you dynoed your mustang and truck in. Oxidizer posted about how he consistently saw a 12hp and 15lb-ft increase in torque dynoing in third gear compared to second gear.
Good numbers!

yeah the dyno shop owner started out in 3rd gear on the some previous run but keep on revving out at 4,000rpm. I think my best in 3rd was 225rwhp and 285rwtq or something. I told him to try it in 2nd and we had no problems in 2nd

Anytime you are utilizing gearing for "mechanical advantage" the higher the gear ratio (lower gear i.e. 1st gear 1:3.06) the more power it takes to turn it. As you near a 1:1 ratio (i.e third gear) the more accurate you power numbers are. It is the reason a vehicle will dyno higher with 2.73 vs. 4.10 rear gears with the exact same motor...

99' 2wd seems to see 225-235 RWHP 255-270 RWTQ
00'-01' seems to see 235-245 RWHP 270-290 RWTQ
02'-03' seems to see 245-255 RWHP 270-290 RWTQ
Most fall into these categories ... for SAE corrected numbers, but of course there are always exceptions.
