Default Drone....

I've got a 5.3L silverado, specs in sig, and I'm looking for some new exhaust. I put the flowmaster 40 SI/DO catback on a couple years ago and was unfortunately introduced to the concept of drone. I think it sounds good other than cruising at exactly 75mph where the drone is at its worst... So needless to say, it's got to go. I'm not necessarily picky about the sound, but I do not want any drone. What brand should I be looking for? Corsa, magnaflow?
I'm looking to replace the whole exhaust system, from the headers to the tips. I'm looking at long tubes since they seem to give the best results, but I would still like it to be emissions legal. Speaking of that, what makes some LTs off road use only?...I can't understand why they would be less efficient as far as emissions go.

Long tubes themselves are emissions legal. The Y-pipe can have cats or no cats. Cats reduce the emissions and without them, a y-pipe is considered "off road."

For you, I would get a dynatech style header with cats in the y-pipe with a corsa touring exhaust. Its the only brand that consistently doesn't drone.

I forgot to mention that I am going with true duals with an X pipe. I figure if I am going to redo the whole system, I might as well do it the right way.

the x-pipe willhelp out but most mufflers will give some sort of drone around the 2000 rpm range

An exhaust system is like a musical instrument. The right diameter, length, muffler size for the right sound. If you custom make duals with a mufflers off the shelf, who knows what you'll get. It is fun to experiment. If I worked at a muffler shop, I would try lots of combos.
BUT if you want to only do it once, you might just get a known system like Corsa, BillyBoat, etc.

I have a Corsa catback and love it. If you think you need the extra flow get a Corsa for a diesel.

I think ur best bet is gonna be the corsa touring even though its a single exit not duals...
But if u do have to have duals get the longest magnaflows u can find and buy 4 of em. lol

Well, best I can come up with now is long tubes into high flow cats to a y pipe and a SI/SO corsa muffler. I really can't stand the drone and I will give up true duals for no drone. It's ridiculous with the new torque converter. Now I just have to find a setup that has everything I'm looking for...
