Default Draining ATF...

Okay, I am gonna drain my stuff. Will I need about 6-8 qts w/ a pan drain only? And YES I know the 4x4 pan hold a wee bit more...

Thanks!

Sounds good to me ... I think mine held 6 when I did the shift kit. That was all the fluid from the VB and SP too.

The book says five with a filter change. I put 5.5 in mine after the shiftkit. I will be changing it all again today while installing the converter and the book calls for 11.2 qts.

When I had the stall, shift kit and cooler done, 5.5 qts. were put in if I remember correctly.

You better check you fluid level then! I just put 6qts in after changing my converter this afternoon. Add that to the 5.5 after installing the shift kit.. thats 11.5qts.

I added 2 quarts when the stall went in ... I added another 3 or 4 quarts as soon as I got to Wal-Mart. The pan was never dropped.

When the pan and valve body and all were droppped I put in another 5-6 quarts.

Chingon .. that might have had something to do with your tranny problem if your fluid is low. Be sure you check it warmed up and running.
