Do the truck engines run an oil dipstick or do they just use the sensor on the side of the oil pan?

If you REALLY have to ask this question you shouldn't be driving.......have you EVER opened your hood ????????????

The dipstick is on the passenger side.....it's the thing with the bright yellow top that has a hole through it

I don't mean to be rude......

Dipstick and sensor.

If you forget to check your oil the sensor will DEFINATELY tell you when you're low.

Maybe it's a trend. The manufacturers and dealers seem to want to completely dominate the service/parts end of things IMO.

My Ex's father asked me to change his oil in his 00' Tacoma once. It was the nastiest blackest oil I had ever seen. I asked him how long it had been since his last change. He told me it was the first one ever since he bought it. The Truck had 25,000 miles on it!!! Runs like a top, I wonder if he has ever changed it since? It's been about 2 yrs so I guess it's due again.

What would be the advantage of not having a dipstick. I hope it's not just a cost reduction thing, that would be some serious penny pinchin'.
