According to JE pistons this is incorrect. All LS rods are 6.098 inches in length except for the 4.8L truck engines and the LS7. The 4.8L rod is longer at 6.298 inches to allow GM to use the same compression height between the 4.8L and 5.3L even though, as we’ve seen, the 4.8L and 5.3L pistons are not the same.
So You signed up to a forum to bump a post from 2009 just to incorrectly tell me that I am Wrong?
The L33 5.3L uses the 4.8L Piston from the factory!!! The Rod length and the Stroke length are different between the 4.8L and the 5.3L But, The pin height is the same on the pistons and they even use the same block and heads.
So If I was actually wrong Like you so Incorrectly pointed out, Then how did GM actually build the L33 engine???
Because according to your Math there is almost a .030 difference...

Hey, I wasn't trying to get you angry. I was going off JE Pistons website. I called JE the tech said the website was wrong and the pistons were the same. but the rod length they had was correct. So the difference would be a piston to top of cylinder difference. for instance the 4.8 crank and rod length on a 6.0 piston (4 inch bore) would set .017 down from 0 deck. My Father is an engine builder and I am aware the 4.8/5.3 blocks are the same just as the 5.3, 6.0, 6.2 all have the same 3.622 stroke. But I stand corrected. and I didn't pay any attention to how old the thread was.
