i work for a dealer and out of any issue's with the duramax trucks it's simply injectors. other than the early models having injector problems we've seen very little with them. some of the early allison trans also had leakage problems, but the later one's have been fine. i'd take the max over a cummins anyday. the cummins is a decent engine in a crappy truck.

well we test drove a diesel and the dad liked it a lot. we drove a 4dr. duramax, LT, 4x4 and it cost $41,000 ($49,000 sticker). he currently ownes a 1989 ford f350 ext. cab w/ a 460 and it only has like maybe 65,000 miles on it. the dealership (GAY Pontiac) said they would probably give about $4,000 for it and it would bring the price down to, for a 2WD version, about $34,000. that actually shocked my dad and he is going to talk them down more. he wants it for $30,000 w/ trade in, is that possible?

we're going to look at dodge and ford later this week and see what prices we can get. I'm pretty sure he is NOT going to get a dodge but money talks. he just wants to see what he can get them down to.

The turbo is loud when you get on it.

For being a I-6 that cummings HO has 325Hp/605TQ and it runs like it.
I love chevy, but going into buying a diesel buy a Dodge
I would say this tough Dodge Quads have no freakin' room in the back and its uncomfortable, but I heard they are redesigning the Quads for more room.
It's Cummins. If you buy one you had better learn how to spell it correctly because the 5.9 guys will crucify you if you add the g.

Ford does not make a 6.8L, it is a 6.0.

Isuzu is one of the industry leaders in diesel power and the Duramax has proven itself to be a fantastic performer.

Anyway, you guys talk to these folks about the duramax. They are not biased. They just know the deisel thing. KennedyDiesel
Ask them about the so called head problem.
Yep, my heads are holding 700 plus HP pretty well.

People just tend to bash things that they know jack **** about and still like to argue with the guys doing it.

Kennedy is definitely on top of the GM diesels.

I love when people add the G in there. Dodge has the motor. Now they just need an Allison behind it. Id love to had a dually with a 5.9 in it.

Like mentioned above, Ford makes no 6.8 diesel. Although they did make an old turd non-turbo 6.9 back in the day. If thats what your talking about. That thing is one loud morphodite knocking futhermucker!!!

As for the Powerstroke. I do not like the head design. I havent seen the 6.0 heads yet. But the pre-combustion chamber used on the Navistar 444E (Powerstroke) isnt a very good idea. For those who have seen them will know what im talkign about.

The 6.0 head design is pretty lame so far. No where near the number of head bolts and they are way down on clamping power. They start puking coolant with just tuner mods. Funny thing is those were the guys bashing the aluminum heads on the Duramax.

I dont know many people that are fond of that motor yet. They had a good thing going with the 7.3. Was a good motor.
