Default DibloSport Predator Non - Unlocking Mith

I keep reading how once you purchase a predator, you are stuck with it because it permanantly burns in the VIN. This is not true. It does however cost $75.00. Below is text concerning this from their webb site.

First, you MUST restore the original (stock) tune to your old vehicle.
Next, send us your Predator with a note inside:

Attn: GM Unlock
Your name and address
Your phone number

PLEASE! STATE CLEARLY OUTSIDE THE SHIPPING BOX:
ATTN: GM UNLOCK
Our address:
DiabloSport
1865 SW 4th Ave Suite D2
Delray Beach, FL 33444
USA

The flat fee for this service is $75. We will call you back and ask you for your credit card number.

I'd think that should be a FREE service seeing as how that unit is in the high $300-low $400 range already...

I agree!

This means I can get that nelson tune or edit that I should of got in the first place. I wont feel so bad for having the HPPIII then the Predator, and now maybe a custom tune.

That should not have been an issue in the first place. They should have that as an option on the programmer and a warning note on the box or in the manual that if you do that it won't be protected from loosing the flash if the dealership re-flashes it.

I think you can have it re-flashed over by the dealer and then load it agian when you get home. It is not like the HPPIII where you just lose everything

Ok, back when I fried my computer I returned it to stock, and then went into the tune it to reinstall its performance tune. It never made it through the install of the tune.

I have a new PCM now but I'm wondering whether the Predator thinks I have the stock tune or the performance tune since I was partially through (I think it made it like 3% through) the install.
You think the reflash will work?

I had a tune not make it before but I was doing somthing wrong. Can't remember but it was either not pulling the onstar fuse or leaving my cell phone on , something like that. I corrected and it went in.

I look at it this way. I knew going in that it would be vin locked. So $375 + 75 =$450. At least I can sell it for $250 or so now, so I'm out $200. Well that's $175 more than I had before I knew I knew this was even possible. Otherwise, you would be lucky to get $75 for it as a code reader.
