Default Daily driving kick in the pants for stock LQ9?

Not taking it to the strip, this is for a purely street driven '06 Silverado SS (RWD) that is currently stock. 90K on the clock and engine seems plenty healthy. Looking for more power to play with so I don't do something stupid like go buy a RAM Viper SRT10 truck.

Been looking at the LSA blower, seems like a good bargain for the gains. Also took a casual glance at the Torqstorm which looks good for the money, made here and good warranty, but wouldn't the PD blower be better for how I'm using it?

I know I'll probably blow up my 4L65E but I'm not against a 4L80E swap down the road. Being RWD simplifies that a little bit vs. an AWD SS I think.

Gotta retain good street manners and not make it an absolute gas sucking hog; I know you gotta pay to play, but I do also still need to drive it to/from work.

My spare time is pretty limited due to work schedule and I'm looking for something I can do mostly on my own without having to become a freaking engine/tuning expert. I'm in the Houston area so any recommendations for trustworthy tuners to help out would be good, too!

Thanks,
Richard

After doing the whole LSA swap parts round up and minor headache with all that involved I wouldn't want to go that route again. It's not that it's hard it's just far more time consuming to make everything work and more hassle in some ways.

With that said I'd go with a torq storm supercharger for sure now, easy install from the looks of it, good price and warranty.

Either setup should drive just like factory outside of boost and retain all the manners it had before. Just slap a larger pump in the tank, some 50ish lb/hr injectors and a tune.

I don't think it would be a stupid decision to buy an SRT-10 Ram, especially a 2dr with the 6 speed. That would be a fun ride and what more could you ask for, big motor, big brakes, awesome trans, nice interior and what 505hp

Don't listen to me. FFDP is on it

Eh, I'd have to get the quad cab, once I got away from regular cab trucks I've found it very difficult to go back. Quad only comes with automatic and I'm not real big on the one that comes in those trucks. 500HP is nice to think about but those trucks do get really rotten MPG, and it is a Dodge - so that gives me about a 50/50 chance of either getting a great truck or one that is always broken.

Then I'd have to sell my SS and listen to everyone try to haggle me down on the fact it has a salvage title. It's a damn clean truck that was fixed right...I have the pics and receipts to prove it.

Really? I'm not sure I could give up the 6spd for a couple extra doors haha. The 2drs gets decent mpgs, as long as its all highway.

Seriously though, I'd keep the SSS. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive, easy to work on and make good power for short money.
And since it has the salvage title. People here that automatically assume the worst. Not worth the hassle especially if it was fixed right.

Yeah I've surely got more in the truck than it's "worth" but I fixed it using real GM parts and put a slicker-than-stock paint job on it by a top notch body man. I do really like the truck and will probably like it way more if I bump up the power and a few other things like
Atomic's coilover conversion kit.

On the subject of the Torqstorm, the default setup is non-intercooled, and I read an article (one whole article) on the merits of intercooled vs. not, and they sided with the idea of not bothering with it for a street-driven vehicle that isn't going all-out at the strip. Thing is, the source clearly has a relationship with Torqstorm so I don't see them as necessarily objective: To intercool or not to intercool? | Moore Good Ink

Why not just start with cam and headers? Then if that isn't enough wait around for a good price on a used supercharger?

I hear yah man. I wish I could give mine a new paint job, instead decided to invest in a Rupes polisher and try paint correction myself to give it that slicker than stock look. We'll see how that goes, haha.
Nice, I'm also going with Atomics front kit, shortly after the new year. Definitely lookin forward to that.

I don't see why you couldn't plumbed an intercooler in rather easy with a Torqstorm SCer. Right? If you wanted to. It reminds me of the old FoxBody Mustangs SCer kits.
They do seem to have some decent prices. But, I don't see anything for 07 to 13, so I'm sh*t outta luck haha

Wretched has a good idea too.

Torq Storms recent threads have talked about a new 07-13 kit, cheaper prices for both kits and a possible intercooler upgrade. The guy said they are still waiting to finalize everything before it goes up for public sale.

Thanks FFDP, I thought I saw his thread somewhere but couldn't find it. That's good to know.
