Wayyyyyy too much cam for your heavy HD2500 crew cab.

Do you want a peak hp dyno number? Or do you want usable power under the torque curve? Also, a cam that big will need a fuel system, big converter, gears, headers, etc. That doesn't all fit the budget in your OP. Also wont launch very hard in your heavy truck. Think torque instead of hp. Build for torque, and you will gain hp also. But the hp will be "usable".

That cam is to much for heavy truck, unless you want to run a converter in the 3200+ range.
Yes. For that money quoted I will be getting the bottom end redone bearings, Lq9 style flat top pistons and rings. Heads (#317) rebuilt and shaved .030-.040 trying to stay around 10.50:1 compression... Due to the weight of the truck and Houston heat, didn't think I wanted to get very crazy with this even though I already have a very good cooling system. Its a BeCool 3 row HD aluminum radiator with two large E-fans and a 180 deg thermostat. Plugs I pulled out look great for 80,000 miles. I replaced em at 100,000 per manual and was thinking the coils and injectors have got to be worn out by now... Don't fix whats not broken?

Its actually a 1500hd even though I never been able to tell the difference between the two...
I want usable torque. I could care less about peak hp. I want to get this beast rolling and want to be able to pull a trailer from time to time... Circle D 278mm 2800 stall is all I really want to go.... Nothing to radical. OK, So I'm getting the vibe to stay away from this cam. So, what spec cam should I be looking at? I know this varys for person to person but I think I have enough info to let ya know what Im looking for but Im not sure how to get there.... Thanks everybody for your time and tips!

If your looking for tq in that case, then a lower duration split cam will be the way to go. IMO no do not fix what isn't broken

The 1500HD is what some called the heavy half. With the 6.0, 4l80e and 3.73 HD rear is def the best truck I have ever owned. Bought new in 2002 and been punished ever since. Im shocked that the compression looks this good after almost 200,000. Cheyy has come a long way since my sb and pontiac days!
