Default Crank Spacing - Vortec Motors

Ok, gotta a fun one you smart guys...

Do all of the vortec Motors 5.3 LM7, 5.7 and 6.0 LQ9 share the same recessed spacing of the crank and flywheel/flexplate???

For example, to put a 4L80e on a 5.3L you can use the stock 6.0L Flexplate and spacer (like I did). I am wondering if i can use the Stock Clutch and Flywheel for a 1996-2000 HD truck with a 5.7L in my 2003 truck with a 5.3L... This is for my NV4500 manual trans swap project...

If i am not being clear on what I am asking let me know and i will try to rephrase the question(s)...

As far as I know there are all the same except for the 99 and maybe 2000 6l which have about a 1/4" longer crank tail.

That sounds about right. Those engines were paired up to the 4L80E and used the longer snout on the back. The newer engines when paired with a 4L80E or a transmission of the same TC mount to bellhousing flange offset would use the flexplate spacer.

The LQ9 was never offered with the 4L80E trans, so you shouldn't ever find one with the longer crank from the factory. The LQ4 was paired with the 4L80E in '99-'00 using the longer crank as stated above.

OK so, if I have this right I should be able to take a Flywheel and clutch assembly off of say a 2003-2006 HD Truck with the LQ4 6.0 and bolt it right onto my LM7 5.3?

That’s what I did with my 4L80e, I used a Flexplate and crank spacer from a 2003 HD Truck that had the 4L80e in it…

Question? I have 99 4.8, now will that have a short or long crank? I have a 02 LQ9 I going to drop in what is going to work for that? What combination am I going to need, TC and flexplate from my 99 4.8?

only 99-00 6l had a long crank Your 4.8 flex plate and TC should work fine.
