Conflicting dyno numbers?
#1
I have noticed that several companies chasis dyno numbers seem to conflict with each other. Hypertech's numbers for a 2000 GM 2wd is 256. However, JBA header's numbers is 198; JBA didn't say that it was a two or four wheel drive. So which numbers should I believe? What does a stock 2wd Silverado put down on a chasis dyno?

Hell dynos read differently on the same car on the same day within the same hour. Depends on the dyno brand, it's load, airflow to the motor vs gear being pulled, etc, etc.

Mostly depends on the brand of dyno, go with an inertia only dyno , like the dynojet and you'll get nice high numbers, usually inflated about 10-15 %. Great numbers for sigs.
Run it on a loaded dyno, like the superflow or mustang dyno and then you'll get real world hp your truck is putting to the ground.
Running on both is a night and day difference.
I only put 298 or so on a mustang dyno, and about 331hp on a dynojunk, oops, dynojet.
One is like free spinning your tires, the other is like you're pulling a trailer.
