Default COMP 216/220 .525/.532 114lsa in 4.8

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone that has this combo would mind letting me know how it runs, if they like it etc. I started a new thread to try and keep from stepping on anybodys toes. I was thinking of using the COMP 216/220 .525/.532 114lsa with 4.10 gears and a Precision 2500 stall. I was also considering the same setup w/ COMP 212/218 522/529 114lsa. I just want to get it all figured out before I start ordering stuff. Thanks

that cam will be perfect for the 4.8, and the stall will be perfect as well. it will pull to 6400 in the 4.8 as well, good luck.

the things you have to do for a 4.8 to run 14's. lol j/k

The combo sounds awsome for a mild mannered driver. Did you look at the TB stall? I think they are just over $200 and stall about the same.

I guess thats a HD hood? It looks great, I am crazy about 67-72 trucks. Yours kinda makes me regret having a gmc. BTW-I am originally from Corpus-lived everywhere else since then. How do you like them 4.10 gears?
I am still wondering about the 216/220 cam because of what ap2002 said. For the motor to be where it's workin right I would need a 3200 stall converter, right? Does that mean it will be a turd until then with that cam? I was lookin for the "mild mannered driver" snake eater metioned. I do carry a four 4-wheeler in the bed sometimes and have had a ski boat behind the truck. I don't want to make it useless. Thanks for all the info.

Just to inform a little bit. I have always thought that would be a perfect cam for the 4.8. I was running that same cam in my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab, and loved it, but it was a 5.3. I was pulling it up to about 6500 I believe. I was running full bolt-ons and 3.90 gears. My stall was a hughes streetmaster 2500, but trust me when I say that it needed to be about a 2800 to be perfect. It didn't run bad, but to take full advantange of the cam a bit more stall was needed. In the 4.8 I wouldn't go any less than a 2800-3000 stall with that cam, and 4.10 gears.

My 60 foot times were never as good as they should have been. Best I could manage on et streets was 2.147 I believe, 14.2 1/4 mile time. Not bad though for a 5000# truck.

or with the 2500 stall and 4.10 gear, you could probably get away with the 212/218 cam that you mentioned above... this is a great cam too, I used to have it before and managed a 14.0 with 2600 stall and 3.42 gears...
