Default comp 212/218

Hey guys, I have done a lot of searching and it seems like the comp 212/218 might be a good cam for me. I want an all around cam, I want my truck to maintain it's ability to haul loads as well as it haul ***! The other thing I want is a bit of a lopey idle. I don't need anything crazy but I am a sucker for a rough idle. How does the Comp 212/218 idle? If you guys have any other recommendation I would love to hear them. Thanks a lot and sorry to put up another cam thread.

Oh ya I have a ecsb 4x4, 5.3 with Lt's, 3" exhaust and a Circle d 3000 stall.
Thanks again guys.

If I was to do it again I would probably go with a tsp220 or similar. My idle is pretty smooth.

Our HT1 has a very aggressive lope at idle. Similar specs to the comp but the 111 LSA on ours gives it the nice lope and great top end. I would recommend at least 3.90 gears, and a a small converter would be very helpful too. It tends to make a big truck kind of weak in the lower rpms. I still daily drive mine and pull my car hauler with it. 13ish MPG in town. 20-22 HWY.

great, thanks for the input. That cam sounds good! One question, why does it say it has a smooth idle on your website? haha

Tuning and exhaust will also have pretty good effect on how the camshaft sounds as well.

i have a lunati voodoo series 212/218 and i love it. it pulls strong around 1,000 rpms (when u can actually start to feel it pulling) and its perfect for a DD setup imo. exhaust is lopey and u know the engine isnt stock, but its nothing extreme. ive also pulled a car hauler with an rcsb f150 on it and it had alot more *** than a stock truck for sure
