Default Cometic head gaskets

Which gaskets do I need for my 5.3? Are the LS1/LS6 gaskets them? Also with milled heads .020 can I use the thinner gaskets? Thanks

If I were you I would just use the stock graphite gaskets for your truck. You are not making enough power to warrant the coin for cometics plus I dont think they make a 3.622 bore ls typegasket. The 3.905 ls1/6 bore gasket is not right for your 5.3.

You get away with 3.905 bore size if your heads are 3.905. I called AFR not to long ago about his. Look at new heads and wondered if I needed to cylinder bore to match heads.

Bigkid, I was wondering if it was worth it for me to use the Cometics. Thanks

You can also get the graphite gaskets from NAPA. I hear they are exactly the same as the GM ones but half the price. I used GM gaskets only because I have a hookup at the dealership.

The compressed thickness of the GM graphite gasket is .054" and the GM MLS gasket is .060".

Use the FelPro 1041's MLS gaskets if you want thinner. They are .041 compressed. Compressed thickness on a stock 6.0 gasket is .052.

I think Cometic can make what you need. But it is not cheap.

Cometic makes gaskets for the 5.3, I've got a set on my truck. I think I gave 150 for them but they're reusable.

i just want a good gasket that can hold 7-10 pounds of boost on a ls1 that is a little thicker to get the compression down some.
