Default Come on in exhaust guys

I was thinking about putting some long tubes on my 5.3 and running an x-pipe with no muffler and a side exit right before my rear tire on both sides. My buddy recently had this done on his T/A and it sounds real good but I was wondering about how it would sound on my truck. I don't wanna sound like a giant 4x4 with an overly loud cackling exhaust. Any help will be appreciated

Get some single chamber mufflers. I'm fond of my Cherry Bomb Extreme. Dynomax bullets would be a good choice also IMHO.

Not sure how you're gonna exit a pipe in front of the driver rear tire cause of the gas tank. Either your pipe is gonna run super low but still be close to a big container of flammable liquid or you're gonna have to do some fab work to get around it.

that would be pretty damn loud, but it would probably still sound good! I'm curious to know if stock exh. manifolds and straight cats(stock) with true duals dumped 2 1/2" would be good for perf.

If your going to have duel exhaust you should go with 2.25 - 2.5 inch tubing. With simple bolt-on's that would flow more than enough.

Then you need to defiantly put some kind of mufflers on your truck. and IMO you should either dump your exhaust (loudest) or route the tail pipes behind the tire on the passenger side. I think putting tail pipes in front of the back tires look tacky.

on the pipe size if you go duals, 2.5-3" if you go single.

I run the shortest bullet style muffler from summit 2.5" dia. with single 2.5" pipe dumped, stock cats and manifolds and it sounds pretty good, add some 1 3/4" long tubes with what ever size collector matches the pipe and should sound awesome.
