Home Depot, plumbing section. 3" 90 degree rubber elbow($9), 11" long piece of PVC($14 for 10'), 3" rubber coupling(maybe $7). Set the rubber pieces in the sun for a while then a little elbow grease and you have all that you need. Then go on Ebay and buy a cheap air box or go back to home depot and make you some kind of ram air set-up. I'm going to use two dryer ducts and put them where the fog lights would go. Then a few more pieces and run it into the bottom of the factory air box. Eventually I am going to make a entire set-up out of aluminum pipe.

AEM or Volant. I heard that the older Volants had problems, but from what I've been hearing, is that the new ones no longer have that problem anymore. Something to do with heat.

They redesigned them a few years back...the first design was actually losing power. The new design relocated the MAF, has a different air box and intake tube, and a larger filter.

I'm staying with the stock box, drop in KN filter, cutting a larger diameter hole thru the fenderwall and resealing it with rubber gasket. Total cost $50 and an hours time. I'll bet dollars to donuts that it produces gain as well as an aftermarket.

I researched the Hell out of this mod and there's alot of tests done that show the stock config's (of various vehicles) will perform as well as an aftermarket CAI when using a high flow filter. Many of the Cold Air Intake systems actually allow more HOT air from the engine compartment to enter the system than the stock design.

Even Volant's web site remarks that their Ram Air down tube will only be effective at highway speeds. So what, an extra 2hp from >70mph? For $130.00, no thanks.

I'm not saying they all suck but the real gains from spending $100's on a CAI are far out when tested (proven) against a smart, inexpensive mod.

I have a Mac Performance intake and I love it. It was $180 shipped to the house.

That was about a year ago.

i have a true flow and it is awesome. great power gains, max power at lower rpm, true cold air comming from the fender. With this intake my intake temperature is only 2 degrees higher than the outside temp. i also bypassed my throttle body.
