Default Clunk from steering column is gone.

I posted about a clunk from my steering column back in Oct. I think. They were on backorder. Parts came in, and its all good. They replaced the upper intermediate steering shaft. No charge, no clunk. Has anyone else gotten this fix, and has it held up? I know at first the dealers were greasing the joint but that didn't last. They say this fix will work for good. We'll see..........

Is this an issue on 4wd trucks? My 03 has devloped a clunk/loosness in the steering. I haven't taken it in to get it looked at yet.

I think so. Take it to the dealer and get your name on the list. I think at one time they has like 60,000 on back order.

Thanks for the info. I'll get it checked out and get on the list.

Had my 02 4x4 done about 7 months ago right before the warranty ran out. It always felt weird to me like the balljoints were loose or some kind of front end issue. Since its been done all is well.

Can anyone tell me the price for this unit?

I've asked all over the place, but nobody has been able to tell me...

working at a chevy dealer, i can tell you that we saw this EVERY day. i'm glad you got your shaft but be aware you will be back. the new fix is to lube the crap out of the shaft so maybe it'll hold up long enough till the new shafts come in. either way, it's still pretty much the same old shaft and it will fail again. it's gonna be another cold engine knock situation. "Oh it's normal but we'll give you a 100,000 mi warranty anyway"
