I noticed mine right after a dealer oil change (free oil changes for life). Since I had it there I had them do a tire rotation. I thought they may have bent something when the used the lift. But I am glad to hear it is quality issues, I think.

they lubed mine 2 years ago and no more problem since. Same thing on our tahoe. Maybe they used magic grease
or like the dealer said 'synthetic grease doesn't break down near as easy'

working at a chevy dealer, i can tell you that we saw this EVERY day. i'm glad you got your shaft but be aware you will be back. the new fix is to lube the crap out of the shaft so maybe it'll hold up long enough till the new shafts come in. either way, it's still pretty much the same old shaft and it will fail again. it's gonna be another cold engine knock situation. "Oh it's normal but we'll give you a 100,000 mi warranty anyway"
