Default Catalytic converter rattle

What should i do, my cat is rattling, and its driving me nuts, should i go ahead and cut them off and weld some pipe in there, or i have a y pipe off an 00 4.3, that has the cats gutted, or should i just get some hi-flow cats and turn my engine light off.

well the 4.3 really doesn't need high flow cats, but they will be cheaper than buying new stock cats. I just pickup up a couple 3in in/out high flow cats off ebay for 50 bucks each, brand new and they look like the 170 dollar dynatech ones. Then just cut out the old ones and weld in the new ones.

If you go on e-bay and search for oxygen sensor eliminator or something along that line there is a piece I bought for my S-10 that screws into the bung and you thread the o2 sensor in it. It spaces the sensor out and doesn't trip the computer so you can gut your cats. I think it was like $9 too.

i just had an exhaust shop weld in some pipe in place of the cats. the one on the passenger side was empty. and the one on the driver side was breaking apart. so now i just need to get them tuned out so my engine light wont be on all the time.

What sort of emissions inspection do you have in Waco? Here in the Houston area, they plug into your obd port and check to see if all your emissions sensors are ready, along with a visual inspection for the existence of required emissions equipment.
