Default Can't find the fuel filter on my 04 Silverado

I have a 99 and an 04 so I looked in the place where it's located on the 99 and it's not there. I also followed the fuel supply and return lines back to the tank and up toward the fuel rails and didn't spot it anywhere. GM has hidden it real well. Has anyone swapped the fuel filer on an 04 or newer Silverado.

learn something new everyday... how much do they charge to get the fuel filter replaced? i'm guessing only certian places would even mess with that if its in the tank... so stealership prices apply im guessing?

Yeah, I'm guessing its pretty expensive to have it changed at the stealership. Probably about like the $1000 tune-up our mechanic here at the shop told me about for just changing the plugs and wires on a newer f150.

I have a friend that drops them for 150.00 and replaces either fuel pump or filter

You don't have to change it like you do the others. It is like the strainer that has always been on the pump in the tank. Nobody has ever changed those until you replaced the pump. I don't know why GM did this. A replaceable filter makes a lot more sense.
