Exclamation Installing timing cover

1. Can I reuse the old gasket?

2. Where all do I put the RTV sealant?

Cam install is almost finished

3. Is it safe to drive without a custom tune yet? 220/220/114LSA 6.0LQ4.

Thanks.

Follow the guide on LS1HowTo.com. RTV across the bottom. Do NOT tighten any bolts UNTIL you get the crank pulley on and tight. Let the pulley snout center the cover. If not done correct the seal will leak. Dont oil that seal either. YOu can reuse the gasket yes. Im sure its safe to drive. But I wouldnt get too crazy.

Alright I printed the 27 page guide on LS1howto and everything was great, but I didn't notice any RTV when I removed the cover, so I just wanted to confirm this. Thanks for the reply Jared.

No prob. Stock they dont have any RTV there. The pan gasket seals usually. Just suggested you put a bead there.

Hey this is the last question. What color RTV do I need? I think I have some blue, but it may get too hot for that down by the oil pan. What do you think? BTW Thanks for answering all of my questions.
