Default Cammed 4.8L come in

I'm thinking about putting a cam in my ecsb 4.8L and want peoples opinions. I will be using the stock converter and 3.42 gears. I'm looking for more power on the highway so it doesn't downshift to 3rd to pass or hold cruise. I'm looking at either the lunati low lift 212/218 on 113lsa or building a custom comp cam, something like a 214/214 on a 112 maybe? I want the TQ to be as low as possible in the powerband, I usually cruise/drive between 2000-3000 rpm. I'm not looking for the most WOT performance.

I will also be installing OBX stainless LT headers that have 2.5" collectors that will help with TQ

You've got a good handle on things, I like split durations and more emphasis on the exhaust, and I wouldn't be afraid of going with a higher LSA, but the two ideas you listed are definitely in the right ballpark.

The '01 Z06 cam would be an excellent choice. Cheap - good upgrade and reliable. Can't beat that with a stick

My 216/220 had less torque than stock in a 5.3

That was with a tune, LTs, stock trans and 3.42s, just food for thought.

I think a trailblazer converter and a good tune might be a more worthwhile swap.
